Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine

Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine enshrines Sugawara no Michizane, the revered god of learning. As the head of about 12,000 Tenmangu shrines in Japan, it attracts visitors from around the world.

The vermilion main hall is surrounded by beautiful gardens, historic buildings such as the Treasure Hall, and over 6,000 plum trees, along with seasonal landscapes that change throughout the year. With a history of more than 1,100 years, the shrine hosts festivals and events year-round, offering a glimpse into Japan’s rich cultural heritage.
